Over time, the tree has not lost its position at all and is widely used in the production of doors, window frames, furniture, decor elements and finishes, as well as in construction. Moreover, depending on the wood and the method of its processing, all this may not do as expensive as it is commonly believed. For example, if a wooden floor is supposed to be in the house, a well -shaped board used to cost cheaply, and it will also delight with its pleasant appearance.
Currently, the following species of coniferous trees are used as building and finishing materials: spruce, pine, larch and cedar.
Spruce
Spruce – a tree with high strength indicators, but at the same time having a rather supple structure in order not to create difficulties in processing. The difficulties are due to the fact that this coniferous breed has a large number of knots that are more difficult to process than the barrel itself, due to their great hardness.
Spruce almost does not emit resin, which reduces the threat of cracking. However, this quality is both positive and negative, depending on the conditions of application. Such ambiguity is explained by the fact that the resin acts just the functions of protecting the tree from decay. Therefore, spruce requires mandatory antiseptic treatment.
Pine
For decoration, pine wood is very attractive in terms of appearance. The color scheme ranges from a pale to a reddish tint of yellow. Due to its soft structure, the pine easily absorbs dyes and varnishes.
Pine is not subject to deformations in the process of drying, characteristic of other tree species. And, in contrast to the spruce, it is reliably protected from decay, which means that it is moisture resistant – precisely due to the high content of the resin.
The quality of pine wood from the point of view of both physical and mechanical properties has very high indicators, so this lumber is successfully used both as finishing and as a material for more serious purposes, in particular, for the erection of stairs and bearing structures.
Larch
Choosing the lumber of coniferous rocks, many pay attention to the larch, since it has high moisture resistance, which perfectly proves the experience of Venice, which is standing on stilts made from its trunks over the centuries. In addition, this is a durable and durable tree.
Wood has a texture with pronounced lines of annual rings, the color gamut of wood has 12 shades. Prevailing colors-red-brownish and brown.
The resin contained in the wood not only protects it from moisture, but also drives it off pests. In addition, this is a fire -resistant tree. However, the wood of this coniferous breed has an extremely high rate of hardness, which greatly complicates its processing.
Cedar
Light cedar wood also has many shades that depend on the area on which the tree grows. The positive sides of the cedar include resistance to decay, as well as, due to the special properties of the resin, the ability to scare away insect pests. It is not recommended to use cedar for products that are supposed to be subjected to frequent load – the tree does not have high strength. But the cedar is an excellent material for decor elements – it is well lends itself to carvings.
The use of coniferous trees as a raw material for lumber is an excellent alternative to popular deciduous rocks, due to the high strength of their wood and straight trunks, which can significantly reduce the consumption of the material.
