Before each newcomer of the case, the photo is primarily faced with the question of choosing a camera. Although the digital mirror technique has firmly deserved a reputation for the best in comparison with other types of cameras, this does not make a choice a lot of choice. Firstly, there are many firmly holding positions of manufacturers on the market, each of which offers its own chips and tries to attract the buyer. Secondly, each manufacturer has a huge set of price categories in which several models often compete at once, which confuses the buyer and puts it before the question: whether it is necessary to overpay for a higher class camera, or the functionality of the base model will be enough? I’m not saying that the same camera is usually presented in several different trim levels.
Thirdly, no matter how you treat her, but a less practical film technique also still exists on the market. This is especially true for the used cameras. And in fact, she deserves this, and not only as the subject of satisfaction of nostalgia for old photographers, but also for the newcomers who are really interested in developing their skills. Yes, you did not disgrace, I say and I will say that the newcomer can give a film camera much more than digital, and it is already your business to agree with my arguments or not. By the way about them.
First of all, the film forces. This cannot be called the other word – the film makes you develop your skills from the technical and artistic side, simply because without them you cannot use most film cameras in general. By my own example, I assure you that the interested student will study the concepts of exposition, diaphragm, excerpts, depths of sharpness, and in the worst case, and will also learn to somehow pretend to be illuminated by eye. Just because otherwise he will not be able to normally use his camera. A small detail – this whole set of terms constantly appears in articles for “teapots” and other users of the automatic mode of the digital camera, which only teaches by clicking on the descent button.
I do not argue, very many people and compositional difficulties are useless, since they want to get high -quality photos from the camera only from the camera. To this we will return at the stage of discussion of the advantages “numbers”. The film camera is really much more far from the title of simple device in circulation, even if we are talking about cameras with automatic exposure measurement or autofocus. However, in the film itself lies another training factor – the photographer does not have the opportunity to thoughtlessly click personnel, so each picture goes through a much deeper assessment both in lighting and technical details and artistic value, in particular the composition.
Another plus – price. Digital “mirrors” in any case cost a lot of money, even if they are used. Film cameras are massively moved from grandfather attics to store shelves, where they can be bought for symbolic money. The same situation with various accessories. On the other hand, the purchase and manure of the film require additional costs, which, however, can still not reach the cost of acquiring and servicing a good digital camera. Even from the minuses of the film technology already marked above, we highlight the possibility of loss of photographs due to various incidents with a film, obviously much less technicability, almost complete absence of the production of new cameras and the complexity of the pictures “on the fly”. But they can serve them cheap and in themselves they are much more reliable, and are also often independent of power sources.
However, there would not be worth the digitalizer so expensive if they had not had a lot of advantages. Independence from the film allows you to make the number of personnel limited only. One picture was lubricated or someone’s extraneous parts of the body fell into the frame? It doesn’t matter, we will take a dozen more of the same photographs and there is definitely a successful among them. A huge amount of automation allows any housewife to take photos without obvious technical flaws, so you can invest more in the art side of the photograph without affecting the technical (although in some cases this is impossible). But if you have knowledge, you can get exactly what you want from the frame, since digital cameras offer a very wide variety of settings. In the end, digital cameras continue to be supported by the manufacturer and modernize.
We will summarize our reasoning. Take a film camera if: – the low price for the camera and accessories plays an important role for you; – You want to develop a forced photo and learn to make a minimum of errors; – You are not scared away by the need to use the film, but it attracts its special effect.
In other cases, a digital camera may turn out to be a more successful for you, because it: – does not require many specific knowledge (at least at first); – allows you to get good pictures much easier and faster; – has a huge number of opportunities, which are more and more with each next generation.
Good luck in choosing!
